Essay Topics In American History Before 1877In this essay, we are going to look at a variety of issue in American history before 1877. The essay topics are connected to the issues of slavery and the civil war. When looking at the major issues in American history, I believe it is fair to say that the first significant issue was slavery. It was at least fifty years before the Civil War began. These topics are based on the fact that the earliest American republic was founded upon the principles of slavery and the Civil War was fought to abolish slavery. The second major issue was the issues in the war itself. It was a time when the United States was growing very strong economically. This is because there were factories all over the United States that were making many products that were needed by the troops and the civilians who were needing to run these factories. The third issue is quite interesting. It was the issue of the 'segregation of the races.' For many years, many American citizen s wanted to separate the races. This is because they believed that the races were different. In order to separate the races, many people actually promoted legislation that would have banned interracial marriages. This led to violence in the United States. There were many instances where a citizen who was an advocate of racial segregation was killed because of his beliefs. The fourth major issue in American history is the Civil War. The Civil War was fought between those who supported the institution of slavery and those who favored human equality. Both sides were divided. The fifth issue is slavery in the Civil War. During the Civil War, the North did not even own slaves. But during the early part of the war, the North asked for their slaves and slavery was declared to be a part of the United States. These are some of the main issues in American history. It is important to understand that these topics will always remain very important in our country.
